Just been reading an article that states, that in another move of desperation the UK government has spent 107 million pounds on buying extra space on cross channel ferries. The article doesn,t state how long the money cover them for, could be 1 month,1 year, who knows. One thing that is certain,is that it is a great boost for European companies like Brittany Ferries and could create more crossings on Cherbourg/Poole and Roscoff/Plymouth routes, good news!

Yes. Wonder what the Brexiters think about it.  Thought they wanted to be away from the EU.  If they want to be fed, they’re now going to have to rely on French and Danish ferries.

The more you look in to this, the more suspect it becomes. The only British company that was awarded a contract,Seabourne Freight, awarded 14million pounds, has no ships,no staff and is currently not operating. One thing it does have though….is a boss who is the son of one of the biggest private funders of the Conservative party.Think we are all starting to get the picture!

And the minister in charge of all this – Failing Grayling, surely one of the most useless government ministers ever to put on a pair of shoes – described by John Crace in the Guardian recently as ‘the incompetent’s incompetent’.

The latest is that Brittany Ferries will be keeping the money even if they are not required  to provide any extra services, good news for them.Yet another desperate measure taken by the UK Government, not thought through and more money wasted.

Brittany Ferries have released a new timetable for Cherbourg to Poole with more crossings from 29th March. It is only for 6 weeks at the moment but hope it continues.Good news for BF and more ferry choices for us,at last a positive from the Brexit mess.

The UK Government has now cancelled the contract with Seabourne Freight,as this company still has no ships and no staff, this deal still smells of jobs for the boys that has gone totally wrong(i hope they got the £14 million back!

The government says no money has changed hands yet so no loss incurred!

I never felt constrained by the lack of choice of ferries, so no, a few extra to choose from is definitely not something positive to come out of this Brexit mess.

I know it is scraping the barrel, but in nearly three years of depressing/negative/bad news regarding Brexit,we are all trying desperately to find something positive to come out of it all,i am still waiting to hear anything.
