I have added a new section in the Classifieds today, “Swap Shop”. If you have something you would like to swap, be it an item or a service, then please use this. :good:

    Good plan, Admin.

Make sure your Wife doesn’t get wind of your plan, Peter…..if she gets there first she could do you a lot of damage with a new chainsaw!  (Just sayin’) :yahoo:

@hoof-hearted what a memory! Was it Noel Edmonds?

@peter that made me laugh! I think that might need to be another section of the classifieds, a “Wife Swap” section, hmmm, on second thoughts, maybe not…

Brilliant idea :good: . I think bartering is far more civilised than exchanging filthy lucre. Off to see what I can see…

If you have an item to swap – direct exchange for something else – that would work.   But swapping ‘services’  sounds like a really good idea.  People often want assistance with house-sitting, animal minding/cat feeding etc., hedge or grass cutting, moving items, digging and weeding, painting or repairing, house work, transport, lifts to medical appointments, translation etc.,  There are endless things that some of us can no longer do due to age or infirmity, or maybe could never do……  Out there, there must be numbers of people who would be happy to arrange to put up some shelving and dig over a flower bed  in return for perhaps some electrical work or transport to and from an airport for a holiday etc., The possibilities are endless.

Years ago we used to have a barter system in our village – largely focussed on childcare.  In that case with each person who babysat or collected school age children, they would collect “points” to use against some other service.  All the “services” were worth so many agreed points.  Probably be simpler here – especially over a wide area – if a direct swap of an item or a service was agreed directly between the two parties.  But, a good idea and definitely worth a try ……….anything to avoid more €€€€€€€s being spent !!!!
