Hello roy, it might all depend upon which day you intend to travel and also in which direction.

Last Friday the Gilets Jaunes slowed down all trucks entering the port at Ouistreham. The ferry left 10 minutes late. On Saturday evening I travelled Portsmouth to Caen and there was nothing.

There are 2 major GJ camps around Caen on the roundabouts, they might delay any trucks passing but cars/vans normally go straight through.

Of course it could all change this week-end (best avoid the centre of Caen etc).

    Hope that this helps.

The Ouistreham migrants are still there at the entrance to the town (next to petrol station/supermarket) and also hanging around the car park opposite to the restaurants. Police have been given new powers to stop and search but it does not say what happens if they are found to be illegals. So no change.

The LHSM sailed from Ouistreham yesterday. She had no problems from the yellow peril, and the migrants weren’t a problem as the car is on French plates.

It seems of be a problem mainly on Saturday’s …for crossing Caen.the turnoff for Falaise being the main target.

    i,,migrants …not a problem for arrivals.

Nowhere near as many migrants now at Ouistreham,i think most of them have managed to get to the UK now. Another six jumped out of the back of a lorry yesterday at Cosham,Portsmouth, the lorry had just exited the port at Portsmouth, having come from Ouistreham.

I think winter has also taken its toll.

tomorrow will probably be tricky on the periferique ,yellow vests!

Not sure how this will evolve ,French friends are worried…the solution is complicated.
